Hales Chapel Family, Last week was one of those weeks when I did not send an email due to a hectic schedule at both the church and seminary. As I thought about this email, I decided to write from the oldest to the newest developments. On April 17th we had Jay and Lori and their children with us. They enjoyed the time at HCBC and were a blessing to us as Jay shared in the worship service and both shared in conversations. I have invited Lori to speak for us during a Wednesday evening service. You will want to be in attendance as you hear her testimony and the way God has used the events in her life to mold her. We don’t have a confirmation for a date yet, but I am hopeful that it will be during May. I thought the Community Revival held April 17th-20th was well attended by HCBC and our sister churches. I think you have to admit that I was accurate in my description of Dr. Jim Shaddix as an excellent proclaimer of the Word. I think we were all challenged as we studied the Word together each night. The music was great by all of the different churches. I want to give a special thanks to Lara, Keith, and Greg for serving in the Praise Band. Also, a special thanks to Denise for organizing the HCBC volunteers for the nursery and for each person who assisted in the nursery. I want to say thanks for your support of the HCBC Kids’ Café that is taking placing Sunday mornings from 9:15-9:45. This money is helping to reduce the cost for the ones attending children’s summer camp. In the first two weeks we have already raised close $350. There will be four more weeks of the Café, so come hungry and come with money. Also, we had a good response to the Pie in the Face for the Honduras team as $660 was raised. While I am talking about special money needs, let me remind you about the May 1st Youth Auction after the morning service. Youth will be “purchased” to assist for projects that you need help with around the house. The money will go towards reducing the cost for World Changers or summer youth camp. This past Sunday, April 24th, Dakota Massengill announced his resignation as Youth Pastor effective May 29th. Dakota and Tristany have peace about this decision and the timing of the decision. Dakota will continue to focus on his studies at Southeastern. We want to be in prayer for them during this time of transition. We want to be...
Read MoreHales Chapel Family, The Annual Belarussian Day held last Saturday was a great success as over $23,000 was raised! Thanks to all of those who provided baked goods, donated items for the auction, purchased items, ate food at the event, or made financial donations. We are looking forward to having the Belarussian children with us this summer. Jay Smoot will be speaking during the morning service on April 17th. At the conclusion of the service we will collect a Love Offering to assist the Smoot family. Come ready to be challenged by the message and ready to give to support them financially. The Community Revival starts this Sunday, April 17th and continues through Wednesday, April 20th. Services begin each night at 7:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. Dr. Jim Shaddix will be faithfully and clearly preaching God’s Word each night. We are blessed to have him for this revival. I will be doing the welcome and introduction of the speaker on Sunday. Keith and Joelle will be briefly sharing during the Sunday service. Music rotation will be Corinth on Sunday, HCBC on Monday, Shepherd’s Way on Tuesday, and Antioch on Wednesday. A love offering will be taken up each night for Dr. Shaddix. I want to encourage you to attend each service. I want each us to be praying for Jim, for those leading the music, and for all of those in attendance that we will experience a true revival. Read MoreHales Chapel Family, Through last Sunday we have collected $5080 for our Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. Our goal for this year is $5000, so we have exceeded our goal! I want to thank each person who has given and prayed. However, I want to give a special acknowledgment to Mrs. Ruth Creech as she requested for the gifts given in memory of Mr. Ashley Creech to be given to this offering, which has been done. This summer will be a busy time at HCBC as we have VBS, as we send people to Honduras on missions trips, as the children go to camp, as the youth participate in World Changers missions trip, and as the youth go to camp. In addition to these special events, we will have families who are hosting Belarussian children for six weeks. One way that can we call assist in this ministry is to support the Annual Belarussian Day on Saturday, April 9th, at Wakefield Central Baptist Church (308 Proctor Street, Zebulon). The money from this event is what pays for the transportation for all of the children to come to our church and Wakefield Central. Please, bring baked goods to HCBC on Friday, April 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Then go to Yard Sale & Bazaar on Saturday 6:30 am – 1:00 pm and the Auction at 5:00 pm. This Wednesday is our Family Meal 5:30-6:45 pm. The meal will be spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. Come and enjoy the food and fellowship as the church family gathers.
