Hales Chapel Family, We are blessed at HCBC to have gifted and talented people leading us in musical worship each week. It is easy to take each of these servants for granted. Let me encourage you to pray for them as they prepare each week. Also, let me encourage you to say thanks. With that said I want to give a special shout out to Fiona Hocutt for the beautiful solo she sang for us on Sunday. WOW! HCBC Kids Café closed on Sunday but not before raising $1,015! This money will reduce the cost for the ones attending children’s summer camp. Thanks for the wonderful support as you purchased breakfast items during the six weeks of operation. Also, special thanks for all the parents who donated food items and their time to serve in the kitchen. We have been faithful to pray for Carsyn Tedder regarding her medical issues. Many of us know the financial strain that medical problems can place upon a family’s budget. During the entire month of May we will be collecting a Love Offering to assist Haley and Lee with some of these expenses. You may give during Sunday School or during the worship service, or you may give it directly to Dorothy Lentz, church treasurer. Write Carsyn Tedder on the envelope. We always have Manna for Missions on fifth Sundays. The next one will be this Sunday, May 29th, after the worship service. The food theme is picnic related, but I assure you we will eat anything you bring even if it is not picnic related. The money donated will go to assist the Hocutts as they have their next training in Colorado this summer. The plans are for the entire family to attend, so expenses are significant. This is an opportunity for us to assist them as we express our love and support for this family. The suggested donation amount for the meal is $5 per person but if you aren’t able to give that amount give what you can or don’t give anything, but still stay for the meal and fellowship. However, let me also say there is nothing stopping you from giving more than $5 per person! This Sunday will be the last day for Dakota to be with us as our Youth Pastor. We love Dakota and Tristany and will miss them as they leave HCBC. Dakota has already started his new job with the seminary’s Facilities Department and they will be moving into seminary housing by June 4th. They have peace about this decision. Dakota will continue to focus on his studies at Southeastern. We want to be...

Hales Chapel Family, Do you hear the dinner bell? This Saturday, May 14th at 6:30 PM, we will have a Quarterly Fellowship Meal prepared by the Deacons. This will be a great time for fellowship and food. The menu will be grilled chicken, green beans, boiled potatoes, and slaw. Church members are asked to bring desserts and drinks. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday. HCBC Kids’ Café this Sunday will resume on May 15th. The menu will be different for May 15th and May 22nd as it will be pancakes and meat (sausage or bacon). Omelets by Chris Lentz will also be available. Either selection is $6 per plate. Juice and coffee will also be available to purchase. This money is helping to reduce the cost for the ones attending children’s summer camp. In the first three weeks we have already raised over $500. Lori Smoot will be with us on May 25th. You will want to be in attendance as you hear her testimony and the way God has used the events in her life to mold her. I promise you will be blessed! We have been faithful to pray for Carsyn Tedder regarding her medical issues. Many of us know the financial strain that medical problems can place upon a family’s budget. During the entire month of May we will be collecting a Love Offering to assist Haley and Lee with some of these expenses. Devotional Thought: 2 Sa 22:21–25 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; He repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands. 22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not turned from my God to wickedness. 23 Indeed, I have kept all His ordinances in mind and have not disregarded His statutes. I was blameless before Him and kept myself from sinning. 25 So the LORD repaid me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in His sight. To be honest these verses are disturbing to me. I think one take away would have to be that the sinful actions of David concerning Bathsheba and Uriah were not in David’s normal character–thankfully. I think the verses do reflect that the general direction of David’s life was in righteousness. Verse 29 helps me make some sense of this section: LORD, You are my lamp; the LORD illuminates my darkness. The only way David can live the life reflected in these verses is only because the Lord...

Hales Chapel Family, Last week was another wonderful day of worship at HCBC. The music was great. Then Keith and Joelle did a marvelous job of sharing their testimonies, God’s call on their lives for missions, and their plans to go to Ecuador. We look forward to sponsoring the Hocutt family as they move forward with this call to Ecuador. During the invitation it was blessing to have Kenny Blackmon to come forward seeking to be baptized. Shane McAllister has been pouring into Kenny’s life. Then after the service we had the Youth Auction, which was a success. This Wednesday, May 4th, we will be having our last monthly Fellowship Meal before the summer break. The menu reflects the summer theme as we will enjoy grilled hamburgers and hotdogs with all of the trimmings. Food will be great but the fellowship will be even better. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:45 PM. Then we will have our special season of prayer during Prayer Meeting as the adults and youth come together to lift up our church family, our community, our nation, and the nations. Lori Smoot will be with us on May 25th. You will want to be in attendance as you hear her testimony and the way God has used the events in her life to mold her. I promise you will be blessed! We will be taking a break from the HCBC Kids’ Café this Sunday as it is Mother’s Day. We will resume on May 15th. This money is helping to reduce the cost for the ones attending children’s summer camp. In the first three weeks we have already raised over $500. We have been faithful to pray for Carsyn Tedder regarding her medical issues. Many of us know the financial strain that medical problems can place upon a family’s budget. You may give during Sunday School or during the worship service, or you may give it directly to Dorothy Lentz, church treasurer. Write Carsyn Tedder on the envelope. This coming Sunday we will have a baby dedication as part of our worship service. This is always a special time for the parents to commit themselves to raising the child to follow the Lord but also for the church family to commit to this process. Devotional Thought: 2 Samuel 12:13 David responded to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.” David had sinned against Bathsheba and Uriah, but ultimately all sin is against the Lord. David did not make excuses but confessed that...
