Hales Chapel Family,
Through last Sunday we have collected $5080 for our Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. Our goal for this year is $5000, so we have exceeded our goal! I want to thank each person who has given and prayed. However, I want to give a special acknowledgment to Mrs. Ruth Creech as she requested for the gifts given in memory of Mr. Ashley Creech to be given to this offering, which has been done.
This summer will be a busy time at HCBC as we have VBS, as we send people to Honduras on missions trips, as the children go to camp, as the youth participate in World Changers missions trip, and as the youth go to camp. In addition to these special events, we will have families who are hosting Belarussian children for six weeks. One way that can we call assist in this ministry is to support the Annual Belarussian Day on Saturday, April 9th, at Wakefield Central Baptist Church (308 Proctor Street, Zebulon). The money from this event is what pays for the transportation for all of the children to come to our church and Wakefield Central. Please, bring baked goods to HCBC on Friday, April 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Then go to Yard Sale & Bazaar on Saturday 6:30 am – 1:00 pm and the Auction at 5:00 pm.
This Wednesday is our Family Meal 5:30-6:45 pm. The meal will be spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. Come and enjoy the food and fellowship as the church family gathers. Then we will have our special monthly Prayer Meeting with the main focus being prayer. This is a combined gathering of the youth and adults in the sanctuary.
Wednesday Bible Study: Our next study during Prayer Meetings will be What Every Christian Ought to Know by Adrian Rogers. There are actually multiple versions of the book. The latest edition (2012) is What Every Christian Ought to Know: Solid Grounding for a Growing Faith by Adrian Rogers and Steve Rogers. Amazon.com has the hardback available for $21.34 (including tax). They are currently out of the paperback but other sellers have new and used copies available on Amazon.com at varying prices depending upon condition and shipping with total price ranging from $7 to $15. The 2005 edition What Every Christian Ought to Know: Essential Truths for Growing Your Faith is available at Amazon.com at varying prices. The 2008 edition is organized as a devotional book based upon the 2005 edition. Any of the editions will be fine to use but Pastor Al will be using the 2012 edition rather than the 2005 edition he held up last Wednesday. If you want Pastor Al to order for you, please, let him know.
Devotional Thought: Lk 9:9 “I beheaded John,” Herod said, “but who is this I hear such things about?” And he wanted to see Him. Lk 9:20 “But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah!” Wanting to see Jesus is a nice thought but does not change a person. Curiosity is not enough. Wanting to know more is good, but not enough. Acknowledging who Jesus is and following after Him is priceless and life changing. The world is content to see Jesus but God requires for people to follow Him.
