Hales Chapel Family,
Hallelujah! Our Hallelujah Goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions is $9,000. As of last Sunday we have received $9,571.78! This includes the money from the Pennies in a Barrel and the Soup/Chili Competition. I want to express my thanks for your sacrificial and generous giving for this offering. I want to say thanks to Tina and the missions committee for their leadership and creative promotion of the offering. Thanks to all who participated in the Pennies in a Barrel. We will announce the winning class soon. Thanks to all of the cooks who made the soup and chili competition go so well. Our winning cook was our cornbread cook, Regina Morgan. We all enjoyed the various soups. However, the biggest winner was the Kingdom of God as all of these funds will be used to share the Gospel around the world by our IMB missionaries!

Devotional Thought: As we enter in 2016 I know many of us have made resolutions or set some goals. People throughout history have been making resolutions and setting goals. Genesis 11:4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky. Let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise, we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” On the surface it would appear that there would be nothing wrong with their goals: build a city (community), tower (security) and a good name (reputation). The problem is they wanted to accomplish these things apart from God. Actually in stronger terms, they were seeking accomplish their goals in opposition to God. Whenever we seek our agenda rather than God’s agenda, we are always pursuing the wrong agenda. It is my prayer for each of us that our resolutions or goals for 2016 are centered upon God’s agenda.
Happy New Year!
