Bro. Chris and his wife Melissa have been members of Hales Chapel since 2003. They have two children,
Maddie age 14 and Callan age 9. Chris is 2002 graduate of North Carolina State University and has
been in a professional in the Textile and Apparel Industry for the last 20 years. Chris enjoys a variety of
outdoor activities and is passionate about working with young people through the church and
recreational sports. He serves as a worship leader with the praise band and loves teaching God’s word

Matthew Helton

Matthew was born in Kentucky, but has lived in Georgia, New Orleans, Florida, and North Carolina. He became a Christ-follower at 13 and surrendered to the ministry at age 19. Matthew married Katie August 18, 2007. Zoe graced the world in 2009 and Ezra arrived in 2011. Ruth made her debut in Feb. 2015 and Noah roared in, in May 2016. They also have four dogs: Leia, Jasmine, Luke, and Aladdin (Laddy)! He loves dating his wife, spending time with his kids, reading, making strong coffee, and connecting with childhood friends who are spread out all over the world serving the Lord.

Matthew has a Masters of Divinity from NOBTS and a ThM in Ethics from SEBTS. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Theology from SEBTS. He has served churches in Georgia, Florida and Louisiana and now, North Carolina.

Matthew’s favorite verses are: Hebrews 11:1 and John 3:30.

Director of Missions and Children's Ministries

Christina (Tina) joined Hales Chapel Baptist Church in November 2014. She is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where she achieved a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. She earned her Bachelors degree from Mississippi State University in 2011. Following graduation from MSU she served with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) as a student missionary in New York City. After completing her 6 month term with NAMB she served with the International Mission Board (IMB) for 2 years as a missionary in Asia.
